Brittany Furgason, LM
Brittany is a Licensed Midwife who has been supporting families and attending births since 2012. She is passionate about providing evidence-based care throughout all aspects of the child-bearing years. With years of experience in both home and birth center settings, Brittany brings a calm, grounded presence to every birth and believes deeply in encouraging birthing people to empower themselves through informed choice and individualized, compassionate care.
Before joining the Rainier Valley Midwives, Brittany owned and operated her own midwifery practice and spent time working as a community organizer and labor union activist advocating for both reproductive justice, making midwifery a more sustainable profession, and worker’s rights. She’s honored to serve the diverse families of the South Sound and is committed to making respectful, accessible maternity care available to all.
Outside of birth work, Brittany enjoys life living in Kent with her partner and their blended family of five kids. When she’s not attending births, she loves hiking, paddle boarding, taking care of her chickens, eating or making delicious food, and spending time with her family exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Brittany still makes time for her activist interests by participating locally in political advocacy and policy reform, wanting to make the place we live a better place for all these babies coming into the world
